Board and Train
Welcome to the new generation of Board and Train – DogBoy's style!
Our goal is to help your dog be an enjoyable, agreeable and well-trained member of your family and society. Our program, designed and under the tutelage of a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, uses only humane, reward-based methods to jumpstart your dog in basic manners. And we help you maintain the success at home through private sessions, resulting in a happy owner and well-behaved dog.
What makes DogBoy's different from other Board and Train facilities?
- Every dog is under the supervision of a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT)
- Only reward-based methods (food, toys, and praise) are used. At NO TIME will your dog be presented with a choke chain, prong or electronic collar or any form of intimidation or force during his stay at DogBoy's
- If applicable, your dog will attend playgroup with other compatible dogs in between training sessions on our beautiful 15 acres
- Training is at your dog's learning pace which helps your dog succeed
- Puppies five months and younger receive human and dog socialization to help them become well-rounded adult dogs
- Multiple trainers will work with your dog in a variety of settings
- Owners are welcome to observe any training sessions with their dog
- Owners receive individual guidance to help maintain the behaviors at home and in public

Other considerations when thinking about a Board and Train program:
- What is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT)?
Certified Professional Dog Trainers (CPDTs) have voluntarily tested and proven a level of competency and knowledge of dog behavior, learning theory and educational requirements, as well as adhere to a Code of Ethics set forth by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. At DogBoy's, we have five CPDTs on staff who are also Professional Members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

- Aren't all Board and Train programs the same?
No, unfortunately, they are not. Traditionally, Board and Train programs have used harsh training methods. Tools like prong, choke and electronic collars were (and still are) most commonly used because they provide fast results. At DogBoy's we don't believe in using force or intimidation to train a dog – and we don't have to. Dogs respond enthusiastically to our reward-based methods.
- My dog is human/dog aggressive. Would he be a good fit for Board and Train?
With aggression or reactivity issues, private lessons are generally a better option for you and your dog. Learn more about our private dog training lessons. Also, feel free to email Rebecca at rebecca@dogboys.com to discuss if your dog would be a good fit for DogBoy's Board and Train program.
