Ahh, Valentines Day. One of my favorite times of the year. Time to snuggle up with your sweetie and remember all the things you love about that person. But what do you do when Buddy wants to be in the middle of all that romance?
My friend, we’ll call her “Mary,” giggles as she tells the story of the night she and her husband were making whoopie, when all of a sudden they hear a long low moaning sound…The more they moaned, the more she moaned, until the romance had ceased and all that was left to do was laugh!
For many of you, this story may hit home. When you’re in bed, your pup is too. Why would he know anything different? That he needs to skedaddle. Maybe he wants to know where pupppies come from? There are a few things you can do to remedy this situation:
- Bring your dog in for a couple days of boarding or a day of daycare in advance of your special night. That will tire her out so she’ll be more interested in snoozing on the couch than interrupting your quality time.
- Treat him to a Kong™ filled with yummy goodness in his crate to keep him busy for a while. For a longer stay in the crate, try freezing chicken broth with a base of peanut butter and kibble to block the small opening on one end.
- Bring her to the Ranch! We’ll be happy to let your dog run and play while you rekindle your romance with your special someone.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Lovebirds!
