Rules of the Game

All Boarding and Day Care is by reservation only. Make your reservations as far in advance as possible. Holidays and weekends fill up quickly. Please call our office at (512) 251-7600 for current available dates.

The following are things you need to know prior to your dog's first stay:

Dogs can be dropped off anytime within our office hours. However, we suggest you drop off your dog(s) as early as possible so they have time to play before going up for dinner. We are CLOSED to customers on all major holidays.
An Evaluation day (day care) is required prior to the first boarding stay. We will do a thorough assesment of your dog and tell you whether or not DogBoy's is a good fit for them. For more information about the evaluation, please see here.
Housemates and related dogs do not go to playgroup together. This is for the safety of all the dogs on the property. We do make exceptions but it is at the discretion of the kennel staff.
All dogs over the age of six months must be spayed or neutered.
All dogs must have current vaccination records on file with us. This includes Rabies within three years, DHPP and Bordatella (to prevent Canine Cough) annually. Have your vet fax the records directly to us prior to boarding. Our fax number is (512) 252-3102. If your veterinarian's recommendation for vaccinations differ from our requirements, please follow your vet's advice, and send a note from the vet stating any changes.
During the warmer months all dogs are required to be on flea prevention such as Program, Sentinel, Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. Tick prevention is highly recommended.
All dogs must wear a nylon or leather collar with a nametag and a current rabies tag already attached. If you do not have a name tag or collar, one will be provided for your dog at your expense. Choke chains, shock collars, and pinch collars are not allowed as they present a hazard to dogs while in playgroup (and we don't like them). If you have one of these, please talk to us about an alternative. Harnesses get caught on fences, and large dogs like to use them as "handles," so please take them off on arrival. Please take your leash home with you.
No dog is allowed to leave Dogboy's in the back of a pick-up truck unless in a securely tied down crate.
New Pit Bulls and Pit Mixes are no longer allowed for boarding or day care. This includes the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and American Staffordshire Terrier breeds. For over 12 years we have defended the Pit Bull breed and accepted them in our facility without hesitation. However, after multiple injuries inflicted by this breed we are no longer able to accommodate them for boarding or day care. They are still welcome for wellness treatments, training classes and private lessons.
For some mixes that have some of the same characteristics as a Pit Bull, the same policy can apply. This policy is to protect YOUR pet – Pit Bulls and non Pit Bulls alike. If you have any questions or concerns please email us.
DogBoy's also does not allow Wolf hybrids/mixes on the property.

BOARDING DOGS:

Dogs play outside generally from 7:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Playtime varies when there is inclement weather and at the discretion of the kennel staff.
Mealtime is once per day and occurs at least one hour after the dogs go up for the night. Dogs who require multiple feedings a day will recieve extra rest time to help aid their digestion. Bringing your dog's own food is optional. We are happy to feed our California Natural Lamb & Rice.
We give medication to your dog at no extra charge. All medication must come in a clearly marked container (preferably the original container-NO BAGGIES PLEASE). With the following information:
- Dog's Name
- Name of Medication and strength
- Dosage per day or if needed (let us know at drop off what doses have already been given that day) - - Reason for medication
LABEL EVERYTHING you bring for your dog with his/her name on it. We are not responsible for any items lost or destroyed.
Beds are welcome, but not necessary (every dog gets clean blankets). If you do bring a bed, please let us know if you do not want it washed. We do our best to send bedding home clean.
Please don't bring towels or dinner bowls.
Toys are welcome but will not go to playgroup with your dog(s) and will not be put down if there are multiple dogs sharing a kennel.
NO TENNIS BALLS OR RAQUET BALLS, PLEASE! Digging them out of our septic drains is a stinky mess.
Please pay attention to the signs that say "DO NOT APPROACH FENCE" these are posted to protect you and the dogs. Approaching a fenced yard-full of excited dogs can cause one or more of them to turn on a playmate for your attention. Please help us and them by respecting the signs and ensuring your children keep a safe distance as well.
We highly recommend not packing your luggage in front of your dog before bringing them into board. Witnessing you pack can induce stress in your dog for many reasons. The most common reason is a correlation with you being gone for long periods of time.
CANCELLATION POLICY - We require 24 hours notice for cancellation of non-holiday reservations and 72 hours notice of cancellation for holiday reservations. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years reservations require seven days notice. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years reservations require a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time the reservation is made. Otherwise, the fee for canceling without proper notice is $50 or half the amount of the nights reserved, whichever is less.

DAY CARE DOGS:

Day care is by appointment only and current shot records are required.
There is no day care on Saturdays or Sundays.
Day care is ALWAYS weather permitting.
If it has or is going to rain, hail, sleet, or snow, or if the temperature will be 100° or higher, please do NOT bring your dog for day care. We have limited space in the kennel and dogs with boarding reservations have first priority to runs.
If it is questionable as to whether we're having daycare, PLEASE CALL US. We have a mailbox in our message system that will let you know whether we're having daycare. Just call 251-7600 and press 1 when the main message starts.
It is possible to make recurring day care reservations. However, please note that if you miss two appointments without calling us, your future day care reservations will be cancelled.
