Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
DogBoy's Now Has Air-Conditioned Kennels!

That's right, dog lovers. You heard it here first. It's true that our kennels are "green" buildings. It's true that they use the earth's resources for cooling. But when it's 105 degrees outside, and there's a heat index of 115, there's just no getting around the fact that green buildings aren't enough. We needed a cool haven for the dogs to rest in after a long morning or afternoon of playtime, so we buckled down and brought in two brand new AC units - one for each kennel. Many of you have been here since they were installed, and didn't even know that your dogs were more comfortable than ever! We wanted to make sure you were informed, so we're shouting it from the rooftops!

Picture Perfect

If you've seen the DogBoy's website lately, you'll notice we're sportin' some new photos on it! We'd like to thank Julie Eskoff for her wonderful work with the pooches here, and we look forward to having her back to take more photos in the future. If you see any photos of your pooch online that you'd like to order, you are welcome to order online straight through her online gallery.

Also, we have a new and fun added service to tell you about. Paige Morrison, another great local pet photographer, will be coming out to DogBoy's monthly starting Wednesday, October 4th to do photo shoots of your pups out on the ranch! If you plan to be boarding or coming for day care on that day, you can reserve a spot ahead of time, and have pictures taken while you're away. Space is limited. The cost is $50 per shoot for the first dog, $10 for the 2nd and $5 additional for the third. This includes an 8 x 10 print on glossy or matte paper. Paige also guarantees her work, so you're sure to be a happy customer. More photos can be ordered through Paige, and pictures can be printed on note cards, calendars, and even hardbound books! This is a great opportunity to get some holiday gifts taken care of - Seriously, who wouldn't want to have pictures of your adorable dogs? Please contact us if you'd like to make an appointment for a photo shoot.

The next photo shoot is scheduled for October 24th!

Training News

This month, our training team made the trek to Kansas City, Missouri for the annual conference of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. The conference covered a range of topics from the science of dog behavior and understanding aggression in dogs, to treating fear issues, and accupuncture for the canine athlete. There were so many interesting topics, it's hard to name them all, but rest assured that our trainers came back ready to conquer the needs of the modern dog owner.

We have some new training classes coming this fall, many of which we emailed you about earlier this month. Here's one we missed that you'll surely want to check out:

Wilderness Live Search and Rescue Class, Level 1
Begins:
Tuesday, Oct 3rd 7:00 PM (at DogBoys and other locations)
Duration: 6-7 weeks
Cost: $200
This class teaches the fundamentals of finding lost people in a wilderness setting. An additional class will start Monday October 30th at 7:00 for those who have had previous air scenting experience.

If you are interested in this class, please email Sandra or call the office to speak with her. Each class requires a $25 deposit. For a list of all the exciting classes we have going on this fall, check out the training page of our website

Price Increase Effective October 1st

As you know, everything is costing more these days - gas, groceries, (property taxes!), and alas, now boarding. Due to the newly installed air conditioners, we have decided to raise our boarding price to $32/night (a $2 increase). As additional dogs are 30% off, their price will now be $22.40/night ($1.40 increase). Although most places don't tell their customers when their prices increase, we thought you had the right to know, since many of you currently have pending reservations. If you check in prior to October 1st, you will pay the old rate of $30/night.   From October 1st on, all boarding dogs will be charged the new rate. This is our first increase in almost three years. Training classes, doggie day care and retail prices will all stay the same. We greatly appreciate your understanding, and we are confident that your dogs will be grateful for the air-conditioning on those hot summer days.
