Special invitation for Choose Austin First members
Join SNIP, founded by DogBoy’s Dog Ranch
Because DogBoy’s Dog Ranch is a proud member of Choose Austin First, we want to extend a special invitation to CAF members to join SNIP (the Spay Neuter Incentive Program). It’s another chance to do good and to get something back—positive public attention, new customers, and an opportunity to make a difference in an issue that impacts our community.
SNIP is a coalition of pet-loving businesses whose goal is to encourage spaying and neutering. Following a very successful first year of operation, we are expanding SNIP by welcoming select non pet-related businesses to join the more than 100 pet-related business members to help fight pet overpopulation. (For Choose Austin First members, the only requirement is that you serve individual consumers.)
Pet overpopulation is an epidemic. In Austin alone, more than 30 dogs and cats are euthanized each day, and many more fall victim to cars, disease and human cruelty. In addition to controlling pet overpopulation, spaying/neutering decreases the possibility of developing certain cancers, reduces the need for animals to roam and mark their territory, and reduces aggression. The idea for SNIP was born because we want to reward pet owners who take this responsibility, as well as the businesses that encourage them.
Being a member of SNIP means that you offer some incentive to customers who have spayed or neutered their pets. The incentive can be a one-time offer per customer, or something that you offer every time the customer comes to your store or buys something from you. Incentives should be something of value, such as a discount of 10 percent or more on your services, or a free product or service to those who show proof that their pet(s) is spayed or neutered. For example, Amy's might offer a free scoop of ice cream as an incentive. ekMedia might offer 10 percent off the cost of a new website. The incentive itself is up to you, and how you determine whether customers’ pets are neutered is also up to you. Most of our members simply require customers to bring proof from their vet, as most vet records state clearly whether a pet is spayed or neutered.
All SNIP members receive:
- Recognition and a link to your business on the SNIP website. Members are encouraged to link to the SNIP website as well.
- An invitation to and recognition at the second annual SNIP Fest celebration on October 8, 2005 (save the date)! Booths are available at the member price of only $50.
- Recognition as part of an ongoing advertising and public relations campaign.
- A window sticker announcing your membership in SNIP.
- A point-of-purchase display (for retail operations) and SNIP brochures.
To sign up for the coalition, simply go to www.dogboys.com/snip and fill out the membership form. We’ll send an official welcome letter, add your business to the list, and will update you regularly on the growth of the coalition, plans for the event, and all other SNIP-related news and activities.
