Rules of the Game

pondAll Boarding and Day Care is by reservation only.  Make your reservations as far in advance as possible. Holidays and weekends fill up quickly. Please call our office at (512) 251-7600 for current available dates.

The following are things you need to know prior to your dog’s first stay:

  • Dogs can be dropped off anytime within our office hours. However, we suggest you drop off your dog(s) as early as possible so they have time to play before going up for dinner. To avoid a late pickup fee, boarding dogs should be picked up before 1 pm. There is no late fee on Sundays. We are CLOSED to customers on all major holidays.
  • An Evaluation day (preferably during a day of day care) is required prior to your dog’s first boarding stay. We will do a thorough assessment of your dog and tell you whether or not DogBoy’s is a good fit for them. During this evaluation, they will get a color-coded behavioral designation, based on our card color policy.  For more information about the evaluation, please contact us.
  • Housemates and related dogs typically do not go to playgroup together. This is for the safety of all the dogs on the property. We do make exceptions but it is at the discretion of the kennel staff.
  • All dogs over the age of six months must be spayed or neutered to come for boarding or daycare.
  • All dogs must have current vaccination records on file with us. This includes Rabies, DHPP and Bordatella (to prevent Canine Cough). Frequency is based on your vet’s requirements. You or your vet can fax or email the records directly to us prior to boarding. Email records to or fax them to (512) 252-3102. If your veterinarian does not recommend vaccinating at this time, due to health reasons, please send a note from the vet stating their preferences.
  • During the warmer months it is highly recommended that all dogs be on flea prevention such as Program, Sentinel, Frontline Plus, Advantage, or Revolution. Tick prevention is also highly recommended.
  • All dogs must wear a nylon or leather collar with a name tag and a current rabies tag already attached. If you do not have a name tag or collar, one will be provided for your dog at your expense. Choke chains, shock collars, and pinch collars are not allowed as they present a hazard to dogs while in playgroup (and we don’t like them). If you have one of these, please talk to us about an alternative. Harnesses can get caught on fences, so please take them off on arrival. Please take your leash home with you.
  • No dog is allowed to leave DogBoy’s in the back of a pick-up truck unless in a securely tied down crate.
  • Any breed of dog can be evaluated for boarding or day care. Every breed has to be evaluated on their first visit, and any breed can be turned away for behavior reasons, or past aggression history.  At DogBoy’s, we evaluate every dog every time they visit.  If you have any questions or concerns please email
  • Wolf hybrids/mixes are not allowed.

Boarding Dogs

  • pond-2-dogsDogs play outside generally from 7:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Playtime varies when there is inclement weather or extreme temperatures, and at the discretion of the kennel staff.
  • Mealtime is once per day and occurs at least one hour after the dogs go into their kennels for rest time. Dogs who require multiple feedings a day will receive extra rest time to help aid their digestion. Bringing your dog’s own food is optional. We are happy to feed our Horizon Pulsar Grain Free Chicken blend.
  • We give oral and topical medications to your dog at no extra charge. All medication must come in a clearly marked container (preferably the original container — NO BAGGIES PLEASE) with the following information:
    – Dog’s name
    – Name of medication and strength
    – Dosage per day or if needed (let us know at drop off what doses have already been given that day)
    – Reason for medication
  • We are currently not accepting dogs that would require medications or fluids that need to be administered subcutaneously.
  • LABEL EVERYTHING you bring for your dog with his/her name on it. We are not responsible for any items lost or destroyed.
  • Beds are welcome, but not necessary (every dog gets clean blankets). If you do bring a bed, please let us know if you do not want it washed. We do our best to send bedding home clean.
  • Please don’t bring towels or dinner bowls.
  • We do not feed rawhide, cooked bones or bully sticks (unless freeze dried), as they present health risks to dogs.
  • Toys are welcome but will not go to playgroup with your dog(s) and will not be put down if there are multiple dogs sharing a kennel (this includes treats, bones, Kongs, etc.).
  • NO TENNIS BALLS OR RACQUET BALLS, PLEASE! They clog up our septic drains.
  • Please pay attention to the signs that say “DO NOT APPROACH FENCE” these are posted to protect you and the dogs. Approaching a fenced yard-full of excited dogs can cause one or more of them to turn on a playmate for your attention. Please help us and them by respecting the signs and ensuring your children keep a safe distance as well.
  • We highly recommend not packing your luggage in front of your dog before bringing them in to board. Witnessing you pack can induce stress in your dog for many reasons. The most common reason is a correlation with you being gone for long periods of time.
  • We do not schedule partial reservations over holidays and other busy times, as they may prevent us from accommodating clients on our waiting list in the order in which they requested their reservations.
  • CANCELLATION POLICY – We reserve the right to charge up to $50, or 50% of the reservation, whichever is less, when proper notice isn’t given for cancellation. We require advance notice of cancellations as follows:
-48 hours for daycare, dog park, non-holiday boarding and boarding over minor holidays (New Years, Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day). Minor holidays require a $50 non-refundable deposit at the time the reservation is made.
-7 days for Thanksgiving and Christmas reservations. Thanksgiving and Christmas reservations require a $100 non-refundable deposit at the time the reservation is made. Late cancellations for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will be charged the amount of the deposit. If no notice is given, for any reservation, we reserve the right to charge you for the full amount of the scheduled stay. After 12 months without using or reserving any deposit on file, said deposit may be forfeited. Thanksgiving and Christmas deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE, but with the proper notice listed above, a deposit may be transferred.
